CHANTILLY, Va. – April 5, 2022 All Traffic Solutions awarded Shield 12 radar speed signs to South Buffalo Township Police Department in Pennsylvania and Sumner Police Department in Iowa through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.
Over the years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating radar speed signs to communities in need each month. South Buffalo Township is a small township in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania with a population of 3,000 residents. The South Buffalo Township Police Department has 3 full-time officers to enforce speed limits across a total of 31 square miles. With speed limits varying from 15 mph to 55 mph, the South Buffalo Township Police Department’s biggest concerns are resolving speeding complaints and reducing speeding on roads with a high concentration of houses. Their Shield 12 sign will help promote traffic calming in the community, specifically around the local elementary school and in residential areas. They want to remind drivers in school zones and on bus routes to slow down.
“The Shield 12 speed sign is now my most valuable tool in combating the speed issues of this Township.” said South Buffalo Township Police Chief Jeffrey Kuntz. “The mobility of the equipment is paramount to aiding my officers with speed calming and community outreach. Having this equipment is like having an additional traffic enforcement officer.”
The Sumner Police Department is located in the city of Sumner, Iowa. Having only two officers to cover a city with a population of 9,451, the Sumner Police Department has limited resources to enforce speed limits across their city. The Sumner Police Police Department plans to use their Shield 12 sign to help reduce speeding and address speeding complaints in their community.
