CHANTILLY, Va. – May 22, 2023 All Traffic Solutions (ATS) awarded a Shield 12 radar speed sign to the Independence Police Department in Kansas through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.
All Traffic Solutions is committed to creating safe streets and neighborhoods across the country with their products and software. Over the years, ATS found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating a radar speed sign to a community in need each month. Independence is a small town in Montgomery County, Kansas with a population of over 8,500 residents. The Independence Police Department is comprised of 20 full-time police officers. Serving a population of a little over 8,500 residents located in Montgomery County, Kansas. Their Chief, Harrison, applied for the ATS Gives Back program with a mission to “Study traffic and narrow our focus on our highest problem areas, allowing us to be more efficient. Our goal is to gain maximum compliance with the law through the minimum amount into our citizens’ lives and we employ traffic calming strategies such as speed signs to accomplish this.”.
Since receiving their Shield 12 radar speed sign, the Independence Police Department has been optimistic about what is to come with this new piece of technology for their department. Chief Harrison states, “All Traffic Solutions’ donation to our department will help our city improve traffic safety in ways we could not. Our speed sign will cause drivers to slow down voluntarily, keeping our community safer without writing more tickets. We can also conduct our own traffic studies without added expenses to the taxpayers, enabling our city to provide improved roadways at reduced costs.“ Thanks to Chief Harrison’s application to the ATS Gives Back program, the department is now focused on studying and improving the highest problem areas, meaning their police force will be more effective and efficient.
