CHANTILLY, Va. – December 19th, 2023 All Traffic Solutions (ATS) awarded a Shield 12 radar speed sign to Cambridge Township in Michigan through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.
All Traffic Solutions is committed to creating safe streets and neighborhoods across the country with their products and software. Over the years, ATS found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating a radar speed sign to a community in need each month. Cambridge Township, a rural community located southwest of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has a police force of four full-time officers and eleven part-time personnel. Their collective mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of their township. Police Chief Jeff Paterson recognized the urgent need for enhanced traffic control measures. The township found itself grappling with two pressing issues: the rampant speeding spurred by two major highways converging within their jurisdiction, and the need for escalated traffic safety awareness near local educational institutions. Adding to the complexity, the township’s roadways are characterized by numerous tight bends and hills – factors that have contributed to past incidents. These challenges led Chief Paterson to seek a solution through the ATS Gives Back program, an initiative designed to address traffic safety concerns effectively and efficiently.
Since being awarded their Shield 12 radar speed sign, Cambridge Township has successfully deployed their new sign in multiple locations around the town. Chief Paterson states, “The ATS Shield 12 has enabled our department to collect speed and traffic volume data and has helped us focus enforcement on several locations around our township. The Shield 12 has been successfully deployed to verify various speeding and safety concerns of our citizens. The Shield continues to serve as a great tool for us to continuously play a proactive role in maintaining the safety of our roadways.”
