CHANTILLY, Va. – June 3, 2024 All Traffic Solutions (ATS) awarded a Shield 12 radar speed sign to Coffeen Police Department in Pennsylvania through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.
All Traffic Solutions is committed to creating safe streets and neighborhoods nationwide with their products and software. Over the years, ATS found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and may not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating a data-collecting radar speed display sign to a community in need each month. The rural town of Coffeen, Illinois is home to just over 600 residents. With just one full-time officer and two part-time officers, the town’s police department sought new tools to serve as traffic safety force multipliers. Chief Wayne Watkins applied to the ATS Gives Back Program hoping to obtain a radar speed display sign to enhance their efforts in maintaining road safety.
Coffeen Police Department placed their newly awarded Shield sign in their town on the state highway where the speed limit drops from 55 mph to 35 mph. Before deploying the radar speed sign, residents frequently complained about speeding vehicles, unaware of their excessive speed. Now, with the new tool in place, drivers are alerted to their speed, promoting safer driving habits. Chief Watkins is thrilled with the results, noting that the sign has “increased police presence, increased knowledge of drivers speed, and reduced traffic collisions” by targeting problem areas. Coffeen Police Department is grateful for the support of the ATS Gives Back program and looks forward to continuing its efforts to keep the town safe. With the new radar speed display sign, they are better equipped to protect their community and ensure the well-being of all residents.
