HERNDON, Va. – November 12, 2021 All Traffic Solutions awarded Shield 12 radar speed signs to Lakeland Community College Police Department in Ohio and Wind Point Police Department in Wisconsin through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.
Over the years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap. Each month the All Traffic Solutions team selects two police departments to receive radar feedback signs free of charge. ATS Gives Back recipients also receive a subscription to TraffiCloud®, All Traffic Solutions’ patented traffic device and data management system.
Lakeland Community College is located in northeast Ohio, approximately 20 minutes east of Cleveland. The campus spans over 400 acres and has a current enrollment of about 8,000 students. Since the college is located near the intersection of major state and interstate routes, a high traffic volume regularly passes through the campus. The campus’s 25 mph speed limit is often exceeded, so the Lakeland Community College Police Department plans to use the Shield 12 sign to reduce speeding and help maintain a safe campus for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other drivers.
“The Shield 12 radar speed display will greatly assist our department with maintaining a safe campus by integrating speed awareness into our traffic and pedestrian safety approach. [It] will provide 24-hour traffic calming for the campus. We thank All Traffic Solutions for this opportunity and for their commitment to public safety.” said Lakeland Community College Police Chief Steve Gagliardi.
Wind Point is a village in Racine County, Wisconsin with a population of approximately 1,770 residents. Wind Point Police Department, which is comprised of 10 sworn officers, often receives complaints of speeding throughout the village, particularly in areas with a lot of pedestrian traffic. Wind Point Police Department plans to use the Shield 12 and TraffiCloud to reduce speeding and help resolve these complaints.
“Our department receives numerous speed complaints– having this traffic calming device will help educate our citizens in increasing their awareness of how fast they are going.” said Police Chief Rick Von Drasek of Wind Point Police Department.
