All Traffic Solutions’ ATS Gives Back program helped law enforcement combat speeding and strengthen community safety with the donation of radar speed signs that collect traffic data.
Chantilly, VA — November 22, 2023 — Since the inception of the All Traffic Solutions’ ATS Gives Back program, 55 data-collecting radar speed signs were given to 54 law enforcement agencies. These donations contributed to the reduction in speeding, improved resource allocation, an increase in community safety, and public engagement. The success of the ATS Gives Back program is a testament to ATS’ commitment to supporting the growing challenges that face local police departments. The donations demonstrate their dedication to enhancing safety outcomes and community well-being.
ATS radar signs collect traffic data through TraffiCloud®, ATS’ patented portal for remote equipment management and ready-made reports. This solution has proven effective in responding to and resolving complaints related to speeding. Agencies such as Camden County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina, Milford Borough Police Department in Pennsylvania, and Selma Police Department in Texas have experienced remarkable success, noting a 25 to 50 percent reduction in speeding after deploying their signs. Speed reduction creates safer environments for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. According to Chief Of Police Matthew McCormack, “[the donated ATS radar speed sign] has helped to slow traffic in the areas it has been deployed, plus the data helps identify problem times and areas.
Since the deployment of their signs, agencies have embraced change in their traffic management processes. With the capability to collect actionable traffic data and access ready-made reports, officers can prioritize enforcement and optimize resource allocation. Lieutenant Brandon Henderson of Camden County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina, said, “We are able to deploy deputies in specific areas during specific times based on data provided by the signs. This has aided in reducing manpower drains”.
Sharing traffic data has created a wave of proactive measures among agencies utilizing ATS’ TraffiCloud remote equipment management portal. In addition to being able to use collected data to identify legitimate speeding problems, police departments can share their ready-made reports with their community. Camden County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina has fostered “community understanding of [their] efforts and validity of complaints”, allowing residents to witness the tangible impact of ongoing traffic safety efforts. Furthermore, Police Chief Rick Beighley of Quarryville Borough Police Department in Pennsylvania, shared that gathering data led to “an agreement to install speed humps on a certain roadway.” The result is a collaborative and informed approach to traffic management that addresses real issues and enhances overall community safety.
