All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces September 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

CHANTILLY, Va. – December 29, 2021 All Traffic Solutions awarded Shield 12 radar speed signs to Chester Police Department in New Hampshire and Danielsville Police Department in Georgia through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Over the years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap. Each month the All Traffic Solutions team selects two police departments to receive radar feedback signs free of charge. ATS Gives Back recipients also receive a subscription to TraffiCloud®, All Traffic Solutions’ patented traffic device and data management system.

Chester is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, with a population of just over 5,328 residents. Although the Chester Police Department—which is comprised of 13 sworn officers—proactively enforces speed limits, the department still receives many speeding complaints. Chester Police Department plans to use the Shield 12 sign and TraffiCloud to help resolve these complaints and prioritize enforcement.

“By receiving our Shield 12 sign, we will be able to more effectively slow traffic down, and also collect vehicle traffic and speed data. This will allow us to identify where we should focus our motor vehicle enforcement efforts.” said Sergeant William Sable of the Chester Police Department.

Danielsville is a small city in Madison County, Georgia with a population of approximately 600 residents. The Danielsville Police Department is comprised of 3 sworn officers, and they plan to use the Shield 12 sign to reduce speeding on a local roadway that leads to a church, bank, and high-traffic roundabout.

“We are greatly appreciative of being awarded a speed sign under the ATS Gives Back program. [The sign will] be used to alert drivers to their speed on a roadway that we receive frequent complaints on. With the sign up and operational, we have seen drivers making an effort to slow down.” said Danielsville Police Chief Cleveland Williams.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces August 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – November 12, 2021 All Traffic Solutions awarded Shield 12 radar speed signs to Lakeland Community College Police Department in Ohio and Wind Point Police Department in Wisconsin through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Lakeland Community College is located in northeast Ohio, approximately 20 minutes east of Cleveland. The campus spans over 400 acres and has a current enrollment of about 8,000 students. Since the college is located near the intersection of major state and interstate routes, a high traffic volume regularly passes through the campus. The campus’s 25 mph speed limit is often exceeded, so the Lakeland Community College Police Department plans to use the Shield 12 sign to reduce speeding and help maintain a safe campus for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other drivers.

“The Shield 12 radar speed display will greatly assist our department with maintaining a safe campus by integrating speed awareness into our traffic and pedestrian safety approach. [It] will provide 24-hour traffic calming for the campus. We thank All Traffic Solutions for this opportunity and for their commitment to public safety.” said Lakeland Community College Police Chief Steve Gagliardi.

Wind Point is a village in Racine County, Wisconsin with a population of approximately 1,770 residents. Wind Point Police Department, which is comprised of 10 sworn officers, often receives complaints of speeding throughout the village, particularly in areas with a lot of pedestrian traffic. Wind Point Police Department plans to use the Shield 12 and TraffiCloud to reduce speeding and help resolve these complaints.

“Our department receives numerous speed complaints– having this traffic calming device will help educate our citizens in increasing their awareness of how fast they are going.” said Police Chief Rick Von Drasek of Wind Point Police Department.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces July 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – October 15, 2021 All Traffic Solutions awarded a Shield 15 radar speed sign to Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department and a SpeedAlert 18 radar message sign to the Borough of East Bangor Police Department through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Fort Indiantown Gap is a National Guard training center located in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department is a law enforcement agency comprised of 19 sworn officers that falls under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Military Veterans Affairs. Speeding is a concern on the roads and highways that run through Fort Indiantown Gap, particularly because large military vehicles can create visibility issues for drivers.

“As a busy National Guard training installation, we have troop formations, military vehicles with limited visibility, and regular traffic throughout the post. The Shield 15 traffic sign will allow us to warn traffic of their speed while providing us data to better target traffic enforcement to keep our soldiers safe while training to protect our country.” said Fort Indiantown Gap Police Chief Jarrad Berkihiser.

East Bangor is a borough in Northampton County, Pennsylvania with a population of approximately 1,100 residents. Although east Bangor Borough is a small community, it experiences a high volume of commuter traffic on state routes that pass through the borough. With seven sworn officers, enforcing speed limits throughout the town can be a challenge. The SpeedAlert sign will be used as a force multiplier to reduce speeding, collect data, and help the police department prioritize enforcement.

“This sign will be a wonderful addition toward keeping the residents of East Bangor Borough safe by slowing down the vehicles traveling through. This sign will allow drivers to recognize how fast they are actually going and correct their speed if necessary. This sign will also allow the police department to collect the data and then focus on problem roads in town. We can’t thank you enough for this donation.” said Police Chief Robert Mulligan of East Bangor Borough Police Department.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces June 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – August 23, 2021 All Traffic Solutions awarded SpeedAlert 18 radar message signs to Boerne Police Department in Texas and Selma Police Department in California through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Boerne is the county seat of Kendall County, Texas. The city has a population of nearly 16,000 residents and a police department comprised of 41 sworn officers. Boerne has 11 school zones for its eight public schools, and the police department plans to use the SpeedAlert sign to help reduce speeding in those areas when officers can’t be there.

Boerne Police Department believes that implementing the sign will help keep citizens safer than ever and hopes to show other communities of similar size how technology can be used to improve safety for residents.

“We look forward to the increased safety our SpeedAlert sign will provide the growing pedestrian traffic in our historic downtown area.” said Sergeant Christopher Walk of Boerne Police Department.

Selma is a city in Fresno County, California, with a population of around 25,000 residents.  Due to its small size, Selma Police Department does not have a designated traffic control unit. The SpeedAlert 18 will be used as a force multiplier for the department to help calm traffic near schools where there is a high volume of both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

“The Selma Police Department is excited to be the recipient of a Speed Alert 18 traffic sign.  The sign will be placed near schools within the City of Selma to help with traffic control… [it] will help those who travel the area to be more aware of their speed.” said Sergeant Justin Holt of Selma Police Department.

Over the years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The Shield 15 sign from All Traffic Solutions will be used to help calm traffic and collect data to help officers identify speeding hot spots.

“The addition of this [Shield 15] will allow for the municipality to collect vital statistical data allowing for focused enforcement in areas with a high number of speed-related complaints. Midfield, Alabama, is a town of approximately 5,000 residents. Midfield Police Department, comprised of 18 sworn officers, has been experiencing a high volume of speed-related complaints, particularly in school zones. Midfield Police Department plans to use their new Shield 15 sign to slow speeding and collect data to identify other speeding hot spots in the community.

“This Shield radar speed sign will give us the ability to address traffic concerns in specific areas of the city. It also gives us the ability to study traffic trends in these areas in order to increase traffic enforcement in the needed areas.” said Midfield Police Chief Jesse Bell.

Over the years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. Pea Ridge is a community of just over 6,300 residents in Benton County, Arkansas. Due to the construction of new housing developments, Pea Ridge is expecting a population increase of approximately 50 percent. Pea Ridge Police Department, which comprises 15 sworn officers, plans to use their Shield 15 to help maintain school zone safety.

“Our school traffic time is extremely hectic, and speeders in school zones are a serious threat… We have two primary roadways where we [will] use [the] sign to slow down traffic and thereby protect our children.” said Pea Ridge Police Chief Lynn Hahn.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces February 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – April 6, 2021 All Traffic Solutions selected Camden County Sheriff’s Department and Brooklyn Police Department to receive SpeedAlert 18 and Shield 12 radar feedback signs, respectively, through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Camden County, North Carolina is home to 10,867 residents and spans approximately 310 square miles. The Camden County Sheriff’s Office, comprised of 18 sworn deputies, is the only full-time law enforcement agency in the County. Therefore, they are responsible for enforcing speed limits along over 200 state-maintained roadways and three major highways that pass through the county.

“The most frequent and consistent complaint we receive from our citizens relates to excessive speed by motorists. The SpeedAlert 18 will be a force multiplier for law enforcement by providing active visual feedback to motorists. It will enable our agency to collect traffic data that will be paramount in targeted enforcement measures.” said Camden County Sheriff’s Office Resource Specialist, Brandon Blount.

The Village of Brooklyn, Wisconsin has a population of 1,255 residents, and the Brooklyn Police Department has identified a major speeding problem in their community. In one particular 25 mph zone, vehicles have been recorded traveling as fast as 83 mph.

“[The Shield 12 will] make a tremendous difference in curtailing the speed in [multiple] locations.” said Chief Wade Engelhart of Brooklyn Police Department.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces January 2021 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – Feb. 25, 2021 All Traffic Solutions selected Wolcottville Police Department and Kirtland Police Department to receive Shield 12 and SpeedAlert 18 radar feedback signs, respectively, through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

Wolcottville is a small town in Indiana with a major state road running straight through it. With a force of seven sworn officers, it can be challenging for Wolcottville Police Department to enforce speed limits along this high-volume road. There are many areas along this road with a lot of pedestrian traffic, including gas stations, shops, an apartment complex, and an elementary school. A few years ago, a child was struck and killed by a vehicle in one of these high-traffic areas.

“I think the [Shield] sign has already made an impact.  Very easy setup, as far as putting the sign up… Working with our area rep to get it all set up on TraffiCloud was made simple. I hope this makes the community safer for all.” said Wolcottville Town Marshal Nathan Sprunger.

The City of Kirtland is a small commuter town in Ohio with a population of around 7,000 people. Although Kirtland’s population is small, it spans about 15 square miles and is home to many metro parks, a local school district, a community college, and Kirtland Mormon Temple, which is a National Historic Landmark. Speeding is a concern on the major state route that runs through Kirtland and on a curvy downhill road with potentially dangerous blind spots. Kirtland Police Department, a force of 12 full-time sworn officers, plans to use its SpeedAlert sign as a force-multiplier to help prevent speed-related crashes in the community.

“This mobile sign will be perfect as we can move it from school zones to high-traffic areas and other areas during special events to keep motorists and pedestrians safer within the city. This will provide a gentle reminder to motorists in areas where officers cannot always be present to monitor speeds.” said the City of Kirtland Police Chief Lance Nosse.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces December 2020 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, Va. – JANUARY 19, 2021 Sylva Police Department, North Carolina, and Livingston Police Department, Illinois have been selected as recipients of SpeedAlert 18 and Shield 15 radar feedback signs respectively through All Traffic Solutions’ ATS Gives Back initiative.

Over the last 20 years, All Traffic Solutions found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs, but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap. Each month the All Traffic Solutions team selects two police departments to receive radar feedback signs free of charge.

Sylva, North Carolina has a population of 2,724 but experiences a daily traffic volume comparable to a larger city. North Carolina Highway 107 runs directly through the town limits and averages 35,000 vehicles daily. There are two separate entrances to a local high school located along the highway, and these school zones require patrolling during school hours. With a force of 15 sworn officers and usually two patrol officers on duty at a time, it is a challenge for Sylva Police Department to enforce speed limits along this corridor. Sylva Police Department responds to nearly 500 collisions a year within town limits, and they say speeding is the primary cause of most of them.

“The speed sign is so versatile and the quality is second to none. The possibilities seem endless for its use in our town. We have received so many positive comments from the community. The speed sign is a visual reminder to citizens of our PD’s commitment to their safety.” said Sylva Police Chief Chris Hatton.

The second December recipient, Livingston Police Department, is a small rural agency that usually has one officer patrolling at a time. Livingston’s two main roads, Livingston Avenue and Nicholls Street, have speed limits of 25 mph and 30 mph, respectively. Vehicles frequently travel these roads at over 15 mph over the speed limit.

“A [Shield 15] radar sign would help keep the public aware of their speed in comparison to the speed limits of our town.” said Lieutenant Matt Sinnokrak. “I believe this [will] help decrease the chance of traffic accidents as well as keep our children safer while they play outside. A portable radar sign [will] also allow the department to target specific neighborhood problem areas as they occur.”

ATS Gives Back recipients also receive a subscription to TraffiCloud®, All Traffic Solutions’ patented traffic device and data management system. Through TraffiCloud®, users can remotely monitor devices, change settings, and generate ready-made data reports from any internet-connected device.

“TraffiCloud enables the user to capture important data and present the information in a helpful way for all. This allows the officers to best serve their communities and make them safer places.” said Mark Fales, Director of Account Management at All Traffic Solutions.

All Traffic Solutions (ATS) Announces November 2020 ATS Gives Back Winners

HERNDON, VA. – DECEMBER 16, 2020 Quarryville Borough Police Department, PA, and Little Silver Police Department, NJ have been selected as recipients of SpeedAlert 18 and Shield 12 radar feedback signs through All Traffic Solutions’ ATS Gives Back initiative.

Over the last 20 years, All Traffic Solutions (ATS) found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs, but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap. Each month the All Traffic Solutions team selects two police departments to receive radar feedback signs free of charge.

Quarryville Borough Police Department is made up of eight sworn officers. Quarryville has experienced multiple near-fatal vehicle accidents involving cars, motorcycles, and Amish horse-drawn carriages. Quarryville Borough Police Department plans to use their SpeedAlert 18 to help out-of-state drivers stay alert on a high-traffic, low-speed road.

“Being a small police department with a very limited budget, yet with three major State roads crossing through our little borough, we have a difficult time attempting to control the speeds of many drivers,” said Chief Clark Bearinger of Quarryville Borough Police Department. “Having this radar sign will be a significant advancement in our ability to attempt to slow down traffic in these areas. The fact that the SpeedAlert 18 is so portable will allow us to move it from location to location and will [encourage] those travelers who do care about traffic and pedestrian safety but just lose awareness of their speeds as they enter our Borough to slow down.”

The second November recipient, Little Silver Police Department, created a Traffic Safety Advisory Committee wherein police officers and residents work hand-in-hand to analyze data, problem-solve, deploy resources, and make recommendations to the borough council for all traffic-related concerns. Little Silver Police Department plans to use their All Traffic Solutions Shield 12 radar speed sign in close cooperation with the community Traffic Safety Advisory Committee to help enforce speed limits in school zones, raise speeding awareness, and keep residents safe and informed of driving behaviors within their community.

“Data collection will make our jobs easier as a force multiplier so that we may allocate manpower more effectively,” said Lieutenant Paul Halpin of Little Silver Police Department. “[We] are honored and grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the November 2020 ATS Gives Back Program.”
